Dear Jake,

I wanted to write and thank you again for the outstanding adventure that my son and I had at your June 2021 Marlin School in Costa Rica. Prior to our departure from home, Anna with Down East Guide Service provided excellent travel information including entry and customs requirements, cell phones, safety tips, money and tipping. Anna was particularly helpful with the strict COVID documentation necessary for entry into Costa Rica and personally coordinated all of the testing requirements for re-entry into the US. We were well prepared.

The moment we cleared customs, we were met by one of your courteous drivers who recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch on the way to your beautiful condo at Los Suenos. Los Suenos is very safe and secure and we appreciated your generous hospitality.

The “Dragin Fly” was an extremely comfortable ship due to the recent installation of the Seakeeper Stabilizer. The boat just did not roll. This made for a very comfortable ride as did the great A/C, and comfortable beds. The food was outstanding. Captain James and crew are consummate professionals. It was a joy to watch their close teamwork when a fish hit one of the teasers. Captain James' and first mate Berto's 14 years of experience with the Dragin Fly in these waters certainly paid off for us. Their expertise in locating and teasing-in fish combined with your vast knowledge, flawlessly designed equipment and expert instruction proved to be the winning ticket for us. As first time marlin fishermen, we experienced phenomenal fishing. Over the three days we raised 34 blue marlin and one sailfish. 10 marlin and one sailfish hit our flies of which we caught seven marlin and 1 sailfish.

This was truly a “trip-of-a-lifetime.” It exceeded all of our expectations. Not only was the fishing superb but so was the camaraderie between captain, crew and clients. Above all, the trip was fun and a great bonding experience with my son. I would recommend your marlin school to anyone wanting the challenge of catching one of the world's greatest salt water trophy fish on a fly. Please feel free to use me as a reference.
